ADMMicro Installing Energy Saving System in Advance Auto Parts Stores
ROANOKE, VA - Sept. 12, 2006 - ADMMicro, a privately held Roanoke, VA based company, announced an agreement with Advance Auto Parts to retrofit certain existing stores and equip new stores with a ground-breaking Energy Management System (EMS).
“For almost two years, Advance Auto Parts has tested the EMS system in select stores and documented excellent energy savings,” said Don Howell, CEO of ADMMicro. “The ADMMicro system has proven itself against Advance Auto Parts’ aggressive ROI requirements.”
The nucleus of the ADMMicro system is a patent-pending controller that enables monitoring and remote control of individual uses of electricity or natural gas with integrated thermostats and load controllers. In addition to providing optimal energy utilization, the system enhances Advance Auto Parts’ store operations by monitoring maintenance and service-related issues. ADMMicro remotely monitors Advance Auto Parts stores 24/7 for energy consumption trends as well as potential or actual HVAC failures and notifies maintenance staff when action is needed.
"Historically, it was difficult to cost-justify the installation of energy management systems in anything but larger facilities,” explained Howell. “But the ADMMicro integrated system has broken that mold and is a viable business proposition for buildings as small as 1,500 square feet. In addition to the energy savings Advance Auto Parts is achieving, the company is further demonstrating its commitment to protect the environment with a reduction of greenhouse gas emission and pollution through superior energy efficiency.”
“We installed ADM Micro devices in approximately 800 stores two years ago, and have been very pleased with the energy savings these systems have produced,” said Jim Wade, Executive Vice President of Business Development for Advance Auto Parts. “As a result of that validation, we are installing these systems in another 1,000 stores by the end of this year. This investment produces excellent returns, especially in an environment of elevated energy prices. This program also highlights Advance’s commitment to be a good steward of natural resources, and complements Advance’s existing environmental programs, which include free recycling of used motor oil and automotive batteries.”
ADMMicro was acquired by GridPoint in 2009.
