GridPoint Connect™ Featured in U.S. Green Building Councils Highest-rated Homes for Leadership in Environmental Design (LEED-H)

Award-winning Intelligent Energy Management Product Serves as Hub for Solar Technologies in First and Second Homes in U.S. to Receive Platinum Credential

ORLANDO, Fla. - Feb. 7, 2007 - GridPoint, Inc.™, a provider of intelligent energy management (IEM) products, today announced at the 2007 International Builders’ Show that the award-winning GridPoint Connect™ is featured in the only two residences in the United States to receive the definitive credential in the green building industry -- a platinum score from the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Environmental Design for Homes’ (USGBC LEED-H) rating system.

GridPoint Connect serves as the hub for solar technologies in both the BASF Near-Zero Energy Home in Paterson. N.J., the second home in the U.S. to win the platinum rating, and the LivingHomes model home in Los Angeles, the first to do so. The single family homes are 80 percent more efficient than a conventional residence of similar size. GridPoint Connect is also featured in a third, yet unrated LEED-H pilot project, Ultimate Home Design magazine’s Optimum Performance Home™ in Sonoma County, Calif.

GridPoint Connect is a “plug-and-play” advanced “balance of system” that integrates renewable energy and provides online energy management and clean, battery-based backup power. It simplifies solar integration, reduces installation time from days to hours, and facilitates transmission of excess renewable energy into the power grid. GridPoint Connect, which combines advanced battery storage, power electronics and an advanced computer, qualifies for tax credits allowed for commercial and private solar-related equipment.

“We are pleased that GridPoint’s product has contributed to the increased energy efficiency of these exceptional homes,” said Peter L. Corsell, President and CEO of GridPoint. “LEED has led in helping commercial building become more energy efficient, and we’re excited to see they are now applying their expertise to the residential sector.”

GridPoint Connect is winner of Consumer Electronics Association’s International CES Best of Innovations 2007 Design and Engineering Award, Home Appliances category, and Green Builder® Magazine’s 2006 Most Innovative Product Award. The appliance is also featured in Los Angeles Magazine’s DesignHouse 2005: The Green Home.

At the builders’ show, GridPoint Connect will be showcased by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Building America Program in the energy-efficient display home built by Palm Harbor Homes, located in the show village, as well as at GridPoint’s booth in the south hall, S10193.
