Load Measurement and Control

GridPoint Energy Manager measures, controls and verifies any number of circuits but typically those dedicated to large energy consuming devices such as air conditioners, water heaters and pool pumps. Predicting, controlling and verifying loads can be segmented by load type (e.g. air conditioners) either in aggregate or by substation, feeder or individual customer, enabling utilities to compensate customers based on their actual participation in demand response programs

Unlike any other technology, the energy manager, in conjunction with GridPoint's intelligent thermostat or communicating thermostats manufactured by third parties, allows utilities or customers to automatically adjust heating and cooling systems to match comfort and power system needs.

This unique capability enables utilities to cost-effectively reduce peak loads without significantly impacting a customer's comfort and allows customers to reduce their energy costs by optimizing energy consumption. For the first time, utilities can promote demand response programs that offer a comfortable temperature range for customers, thereby increasing enrollment and satisfaction in demand response programs.

Circuit-level measurement also provides customers with detailed costs of electricity consumption for appliances that have dedicated circuits (e.g. air conditioners, water heaters, pool pumps). Through the GridPoint Customer Portal, customers can use this information to create an energy budget or select alternative tariffs based upon usage patterns to reduce their energy consumption and costs.
