Frequently Asked Questions
There may be an instance where external factors cause the temperature to become too hot or too cold. Key employees will be able to perform a temporary temperature override on-site for an allotted amount of time. Usually, this is +/- 2 degrees for 60 minutes.
*Note: fan mode and HVAC mode don’t need to be changed in order for a temperature override to be executed.
PERFORMING AN OVERRIDE ON THE EC2000
- Locate and click on the HVAC button to view all HVAC units at the location
- Select the unit in the zone you want to override the temperature for
- Adjust the temperature as needed with the up/down arrows
For each zone, the controller displays the real-time zone temperature, heating, and cooling setpoints, and if the HVAC is active.
- In the Biz-Ops zone, the current temperature is 70.1 degrees. The Heating setpoint is 65 and the cooling setpoint is 71. Since the fan symbol and both setpoints are grey, this means that the HVAC is not active at this moment.
- In the IT zone, the fan symbol is white which means it is actively running, and the Cooling setpoint is Blue. This means that the HVAC zone is currently in cooling mode.
- An HVAC zone can be in one of 4 states:
- Fan is off, not actively heating or cooling
- Fan is on, not actively heating or cooling
- Fan is on, actively heating
- Fan is on, actively cooling
Putting your lights on a schedule ensures that your facility is operating most efficiently. However, there may be some instances where the lights need to be on outside of the established hours. If applicable to your solution, key employees can perform a lighting override right from the EC2000.
PERFORMING AN OVERRIDE ON THE EC2000
- Locate and press on the Lighting icon to view the lighting schedule
- Press the on/off button next to the lighting zone you want to override.
- Press the lighting icon to verify times. Yellow shows when the lights will be on and gray shows occupied times.
- The override duration will appear on the button, to cancel simply press the button again

Override permissions are established at the customer’s discretion and may or may not be available on the EC2000 on-site. When they are allowed, overrides are temporary, and are usually permitted for a set number of degrees for a specific time period. For example, “2 degrees for 30 mins”.
GridPoint Energy Manager offers two levels of control: Read-Only and Read-Write access. Read Write access allows the user to make changes to schedules and setpoints. Read-Only provides a view of schedules and setpoints. Access changes can be made by GridPoint Customer Support by calling 866-800-8906 ext. 1, or by sending an email to Support@GridPoint.com.
