Welcome to GridPoint Energy Manager!

We are excited to have you as a part of the GridPoint family, here are a few tips to help get you started and on your way to achieving your energy goals

 

  • Once you have logged into the desktop version of GridPoint Energy Manager, you will be prompted to change your password.
  • After changing your password, download the GridPoint Energy Manager Mobile App (available for both IOS and Android) to access all your data on the go! Your username (and updated password) will be the same on the desktop and mobile applications.
  • Keep your account active! Your security is very important to us and user accounts that have not been logged into for more than 60 days, whether on
    desktop or mobile, will be disabled.

Logging In

Navigate to https://ems.gridpoint.com/login and enter your Username and Password provided to you in the introductory email
 

The Home tab includes basic site details like address, site hours of operation, installation details, archive of configuration changes, and a map view for navigation

View Your Sites

Your map can show two different types of pins: one for single sites, and one for multiple sites that are in close proximity. To zoom into the geographical regions where multiple sites are, double click on the multi-site icon.

To view the full screen map again, click on the full screen icon.

Site Notes

The Site Notes button is enabled when <200 sites are selected. Here you can view site configuration change history by selected time-frame and export these details into a spreadsheet.

Site Details
Click on a single-site pin to view it’s details including address, commission date, hours, site area and active alarms. There are also quick links to graphs and real-time data

The Control tab will appear if one or more sites use GridPoint to control HVAC or other equipment. Edit features apply to single site or multi-site and are available for users with appropriate permissions.

Hours: View and edit regular hours as well as custom hours for holidays and other site events

HVAC Schedules: View and edit when HVACs consider their zones occupied, the comfort settings for occupied vs unoccupied periods and override policies

Lighting/Load Schedules: View and edit when lights and other loads turn on/off

Real-time Data: Available when HVACs or lighting/loads are selected at a single site

Export Data: You can export current schedule information including hours, HVAC, and lighting/load schedules

Bulk Edits: Users can make bulk edits to HVAC setpoints, hours, or load schedules by selecting multiple sites before clicking the edit button

GridPoint’s patented Smart Alarms eliminate the noise to provide you with critical issues at the right time. Any configured alarms will be found in the Alarms tab.

Alarms Summary: The total number of alarms appear at the top. Selecting one or more alarms bring up the detailed alarm information on the same screen

View Details: Click on an alarm to view additional details or to view a summary graph highlighting an issue

Date Range Picker: You can adjust the time period for which you want to view your alarms, the default time frame is one week

Graph: The graph icon in the details column will open a pop-up graph of the alarm

The Projects tab enables users to rank and export centralized project information across sites.  They can also create, edit and delete projects, as well as baselines, goals and financial metrics for tracking project impacts.

Filter Project Inventory: You can edit what columns appear in the inventory and use the drop downs to filter through your projects

Create a New Project: A create new project button will appear when a single site it selected

Setting a Project Baseline: Your baseline is automatically set if you have data for the previous year, if you don’t the data can be manually entered

Edit Projects in Bulk: Click on the Bulk Actions drop down to import new projects or make bulk edits to existing projects

View Project Graph: The graphs icon will appear when projects at a single site are selected in the table. Here you can view the project underneath trended kW data

Add Financial Information: Enter basic details in order to calculate IRR, NPV, and simple payback for your project

Graphs will show all the kW channels monitored for the site by default. Tools are available to customize the view to show more or less data, a full tutorial is available in the full GridPoint Energy Manager User Manual.

Real-time

View Tutorial

When a single site is selected, users can view Real‐Time data in the Data tab.  Navigation to this page also exists in Home and Control tabs.  After navigating to the Real‐Time tab, users may need to wait up to a few minutes for the request to open a connection. Once connected, a view like this will appear:

  • Use the tables across the top to navigate to the different available real‐time data tables.  Not all sites contain the same tables or the same data in the tables because different sites may be monitoring different types of data.
  • Clicking any number that has a blue hyperlink will open up a popup graph of that data as shown above.  Multiple popup graphs can be opened so data can be compared across different tables (popup graphs can be moved around using the mouse).
  • Data will refresh every few seconds. A refresh can also be prompted with the Refresh  icon.
  • Depending on the table, not all available columns may be shown by default.  To see all available columns, click the Choose Columns  icon in the top right area of the table
  • Table data can be exported using the Export   icon in the far right.  This will send a real‐time snapshot of the selected table’s data to My Downloads.
  • For a full‐screen version of Real‐Time data, click the Full Screen  icon in the top right corner.
  • Some HVACs may have additional data available.  Click the red Show Feed   icons next to the HVAC row to view this data.


Reports

View Tutorial

The following reports are available in the reports tap of GridPoint Energy Manager:

  • Main Load Energy Usage Report – Identify the total energy consumption and peak demand instances at the selected sites over the specified time range.
  • Submetered Energy Usage Report – Identify the total and submetered energy consumption, peak demand instances and coincident peaks at the selected sites over the specified time range.
  • Voltage Imbalance Report ‐ Identify sites with main load phase‐to‐phase and phase‐to‐neutral voltage imbalances over specified thresholds for the time period selected.
  • Solar Report (Solar Monitoring Customers Only) – Identify the solar generation and peak production instances at sites with solar monitoring, with options to view inverter‐level contributions and coincident peaks.
  • Site Schedules Report (Control Customers Only) – Exports the current regular site hours, custom (holiday) hours, as well as HVAC and lighting/load schedules for selected sites.
  • Site Schedules History Report (Control Customers Only) – Identify changes in site hours, custom (holiday) hours, HVAC and lighting/load schedules for the selected sites over the specified time range.
  • Override Report (Control Customers Only) ‐ Identify the total and average number of HVAC and lighting overrides occurring each day of the week for the sites and time period selected.
Generating a Report
  • On the Data > Reports tab, use the radio button to the left of the reports to select the type of report to generate.
  • Fill out the appropriate fields/select options for the report, provide a File Name (optional) and click Run. The report is automatically exported to My Downloads.



Solar

For customers that have solar monitoring at sites, the Solar tab will also be visible in the Data section of GridPoint Energy Manager.  On this tab, select one or several sites to see a visual representation of the solar generation vs total building consumption. The dashboard is shown below with a short description of each section.

Status
Shows the last received data points for Solar Production and Main Load power demand (both in kW).  When a single site is selected, it will also show the peak values for Solar and Main Load for the day – if it’s still early in the day (sun has not come up), these may show 0kW.  When multiple sites are selected, peaks are not shown as sites all have different peaks.

Summary
Select between 7 day, 30 day and 365 day trended data totals for Solar Generation, Main Load Consumption   (both in kWh), and carbon dioxide‐equivalent savings from Solar (in lbs CO2‐equivalent).  In addition, the % of main load consumption met by solar generation over the period and the total installed solar system size (in kW DC) is shown.

Accessing the App

  1. Download GridPoint’s mobile app through the Apple App store or Google Play store
  2. The mobile app allows you access to site performance overviews, real-time data, HVAC/Lighting schedules, and overrides – which is particularly useful for remote site control and maintenance

Performing a Temporary Override

1. Select the HVAC icon
2. Tap the HVAC tile you wish to override

3. Toggle to the override screen

4. Make the desired setting change, select a durationenter a descriptive note, and tap “Submit


Accessing Real-time Data

1. Select the RTD icon

2. Choose the category you wish to trend

 

3. Click the red underlined fields to view the trend in real-time
